Chicago’s Top Art Collectors
For years now, ARTnews has culled an international list of top collectors. In the past, I had wondered how the list was compiled and after a little digging around on the site, I found what I was looking for. According to the ARTnews website, “Collectors, dealers, auctioneers, museum directors, curators, and consultants were interviewed by ARTnews correspondents in 22 countries for the 20th annual ARTnews 200 and the Top Ten, our lists of the most active collectors.” Without further ado, here is this year’s list:

This year, Chicago has only 4 Collectors who got the nod (as compared to five in 2009). For a little bit of analysis, this year as compared to last, Neil Bluhm was not included in this year’s the list. The Stone’s, as well, were not included, despite the fact that they have an entire show of works from their collection at the Art Institute. There is also the addition of Mr. Traubert’s name alongside Penny Pritzker, for what that is worth.
